With the highly anticipated solar eclipse just a few days away, there have been many theories floating around as to what it means. One resource we can always turn to for answers is the Bible and here we can look at the Hebrew months and the meaning behind their names.

The Solar Eclipse on April 8 will take place on the last day of Adar II, or 29 Adar II, as shown on the calendar below:

The meaning of Adar comes from the Babylonian verb meaning ‘to be darkened or eclipsed.’ So this highly anticipated eclipse takes places on the very last day of Adar II (of all days) and it actually means eclipsed! It also means in Hebrew ‘to be majestic or wide or glorify.’ Coincidentally, this eclipse will have the widest path traversing across the United States with the path of totality at approximately 115 miles wide, and over half of the country’s population lives within 250 miles of it.

This solar eclipse not only has a planetary alignment taking place at the exact same time but also many other signs that point to it being a significant event coordinated by God himself.

IF we are looking at what time the eclipse takes place under Jerusalem time, then we need to consider the following:

The upcoming solar eclipse will take place on Rosh Chodesh Nisan, which is the NEW MOON, marking the beginning of the month which is referred to in the Bible as “the 1st month.”

Nisan 1 is the very beginning of the religious calendar for Israel.

Rosh Chodesh Nisan for Hebrew Year 5784 begins at sundown on Monday, 8 April 2024 and ends at nightfall on Tuesday, 9 April 2024.

RAMADAN ENDS ON APRIL 8th at sundown as well.

Sundown in Jerusalem is at 7:20pm on April 8th, 12:20pm EST

The Super New Moon in Jerusalem will be at 9:20 p.m. on April 8th (2:20pm EST.)

The total solar eclipse in central Indiana will be between 1:50-4:23pm with Max at 3:07pm EST.

Based on this information,  Nisan 1 begins right before the solar eclipse on Jerusalem time. However, here in the USA we do not go by Jerusalem time, we are technically not in the Hebrew month of Nisan until Tuesday, April 9 but it just depends on who you ask. The Hebraic calendar timeline is always a controversial subject!
