Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin announced Monday that the U.S has imposed sanctions on Syria following their chemical weapons attack.

The sanctions put in place both freeze assets and prevent U.S. entities from making deals/doing business with 271 employees of a certain Syrian government agency whose task is the creation of non-conventional weaponry. Mnuchin spoke of the measures put in place, saying they illustrate, “we will not tolerate the use of chemical weapons by any action and we intend to hold the Assad regime accountable for its unacceptable behavior.”
