Alon Davidi, mayor of the southern town of Sderot, urged the government on Saturday to launch a large-scale military operation in Gaza and liquidate the leadership of Hamas.
“We have been living in this reality for close to two years, and a wide scale military operation in Gaza, including the assassination of Hamas leaders, has been a long time coming,” Davidi said.
His remarks come after a house in Sderot suffered a direct hit from a Gaza rocket on Friday evening.
Hamas warns ‘Israel’s aggression’ will not go unanswered
The Hamas terror organization on Saturday warned that Israel’s “crimes and aggression” will not go unanswered.
“Israel will bear the consequences of its actions,” said the terror group in response to a series of airstrikes carried out by the IDF in the Gaza Strip, which came in retaliation to a barrage of rockets fired by Gaza militants.
